Self-defense involves more than just physical skills. The practice of martial arts will help you gain physical, mental, and emotional self-defense skills.
At Jiu Jitsu Foundation, we attempt to respect the past while embracing the present. Our techniques originated from Gracie Jiu Jitsu. While some of our curriculum has been adapted to better fit the self-defense needs of today, you will be practicing martial arts techniques that have been passed down for hundreds of years.
We subdivide our adult classes classes into smaller groups to focus on the specific needs of beginner, intermediate and advanced students. This allows students to train at the appropriate level for constant improvement.
For students who have consistency and dedication, Jiu-Jitsu eventually becomes a life-style, and soon experience the benefits that the “gentle art” has to offer. Jiu Jitsu Foundation Programs are structured logically to keep students motivated to learn, practice and perform.
If you are new to Jiu-Jitsu, you will be required to do an introductory class. In this class you will learn privately from a qualified JJF instructor the basics positions and movements of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The Fundamental program is designed to teach the basic principles of Jiu-Jitsu for individuals like you. This program is composed of core fundamental Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu moves combined intelligently to safely optimize your learning.
While the Fundamentals Program focuses on the building blocks and basic principles of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Intermediate Program is built on high-level techniques and drills that start shaping the students game flow through the development of reflexes, speed and reaction time as well as transitions between one technique and another. After a few months in the Intermediate Program students typically experience a deeper involvement in JJF’s philosophy, a stronger bond with training partners as well as more discipline and commitment to healthy habits that keep them in good shape.
In the Advanced program, you will experience more live training and be exposed to more advanced moves. In this stage of your training experience, you will witness incredible improvement not only on your technique, but your conditioning as well. The Advanced Program is designed to expose the student to several different classes and a variety of training experiences, allowing you to develop a unique style of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and to further your mastery of the art. As a result, in the Advanced Program, more techniques are taught, the pace of the class is faster and more exciting, the level of the training partners is higher, and last but not least, the focus on little details and timing is what will assist you to take your progress to the next level. During the Advanced program you will also have the option to study No-Gi Jiu jitsu or Submission Grappling. These techniques are similar but are practiced without the traditional uniform(or Gi).
