Martial Arts can change your life

I talk about Martial Arts with nearly everyone I meet. It just comes up naturally when they ask me what I do.
“I change people’s lives” I always respond. Usually after my answer I get a confused face looking at me. That is when I explain how Martial Arts can change their life.
Brian Tracy once said, “Move out of your comfort zone. You can only grow if you are willing to feel awkward and uncomfortable when you try something new.” One of the biggest reasons people get stuck, instead of taking action to change their lives for the better, is simply that the process is uncomfortable. But to create positive changes in your life you have to step outside your comfort zone, at least for a little while. When you first start practicing Martial Arts there is a period of time that you feel outside your comfort zone , some take longer than others. For some people, the fitness aspect is what makes it hard to keep it up in the beginning and for others the technical aspect. Therefore I believe the first true lesson when studying Martial Arts is to be patience. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. The same philosophy holds true for making changes in your life. Making small, positive changes – eating a little healthier, exercising a little, creating some small productive habit.
A real winners in Martial Arts cultivate optimism. They have the ability to manufacture their own happiness and drive. You must think positively. Positive thinking is at the forefront of every great success story. The mind must believe it can do something before it is capable of actually doing it.
No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress in Martial Arts, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying!
